Sunday Groups

At St Lawrence there is a range of Sunday Groups for the children and young people in our church. At the Family Services on the first Sunday of the month, we stay together in church for the whole service, which is geared towards worship for ‘all ages’. On the other Sundays, the children go out after the first part of the service to their groups that meet in Bidborough school, just across the road from the church. The groups welcome any who are new to St Lawrence, or just passing through. Parents are welcome to come down with their children to settle them into the groups if they wish to. The groups are:

Babies and toddlers

See details here for Gems for the 0 to pre-school age range. On Sundays when Sparklers is running Gems wil join them acompanied by their adult helpers. If children become unsettled the helpers will come and find the parents(s) in church.

Sparklers

This group is for children in reception to year 2. Lots of fun, interactive Bible stories, songs and an activity. Helping the younger members of the church to understand that God loves them. This group meets in the old school, familiar ground to any young ones who are already in the Reception class at Bidborough School.

Explorers

School years 3 – 5. As the children get older they need a bit more space, and Explorers meet in the school, where there is plenty of room for some games before sitting down to learn what it means to be part of God’s family.

Pathfinders

School years 6 – 8. As children move on to Secondary school they face many new issues, and are being taught to think more deeply about life. At Pathfinders we look at what it means to live the Christian life in the world today, and how we can be equipped to live as Jesus’ followers. Oh, and games and fun, too !
